A. Scott Berg `71 h03 Summer Fellowship Awards Announced

The Department of English awarded the following students the A. Scott Berg `71 h03 Summer Fellowship.

Co-Winners:

Ugonna Nwabueze: A Nation of Tainted Clay: A play exploring the history of tribal strife in Africa and its bloody ramifications in black nationhood. (Writing a play set in a refugee camp in Ghana).

Claire Thornton: "Cowboys and Concertos": a non-fiction memoir about her work with the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in TX.

Runners-Up:

Alex de la Garza: research in Jishou, China for Creative Nonfiction Thesis

Kevin Romero: Autobiography as Activism: Untold Stories of the Dominican Experience through Ancestry and Sexuality

Emma Watkins: Trailing Rhiannon: A Study of the Welsh Landscape of Music & Mythology
