Autumn Womack, Assistant Professor, Department of English and African American Studies, was not a big reader growing up. But she was assigned a book for English her junior year at Central High School in Philadelphia that she couldn’t put down. She read it after school, waiting for her best friend to finish her piano lessons at Settlement Music School. She read it every night before bed.
