Bio/Description

Lindsay Griffiths Brown joined the Department of English Literature at Princeton University in 2018. Prior to this, she earned her B.A. from CUNY Hunter College in English Literature and Spanish/English Translation. There, she produced a senior thesis on George Schuyler’s Black No More. She is also the translator of Mercedes Cebrián’s Burp. Apuntes Gastronómicos (Burp: Gastronomical Writings), a selection of poems in Almudena Vidoretta’s Algunos hombres insaciables, as well as being the co-translator of a number of short stories.

Lindsay’s intellectual life at Princeton is centered on African American and Afro-Caribbean Literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. Her work explores Black international exchange, examining the ways that translation influences and is, in turn, influenced by the complexities of diaspora.
